December 20th is here already? We’ve emerged from the awkward teenage years of calendar doors and entered the roaring 20s. Before we start, how about a little more LEGO advent calendar trivia? The first Star Wars calendar was released in 2011 and the theme has appeared each year since. It shares 4 ships with this year’s calendar. Of course this year Star Wars is joined by Friends, Disney, City, Harry Potter, and Spider-Man!
As ever, our intrepid TBB team is on hand with witty comments, insightful observations, and bad jokes for each day’s builds. And of course, you can add your own thoughts in the comments section each day! So without further ado, let’s crack open the build for day 20…
Friends mixes things up with sexy lumberjack! What’s next? A Hot Frosty? Oh, wait. That’s Paisley’s dad, Johnathan. The minidoll has appeared before, but never with an axe! Disney presents it’s most recent character in the lineup – Encanto’s Mirabelle.
From City we have a tree with lights, while Harry Potter provides a cozy hearth / floo, paired with a second collectible tile. (For those who don’t follow Harry Potter sets, these printed tiles are collectible and randomized in their distribution).
Star Wars isn’t messing around today, with an Imperial Praetorian Guard bursting from the box. The figure only appears in one other set, the Moff Gideon battle from earlier this year. Spider-Man appears to be a festive glider for Green Goblin. A clip in the rear suggests there may be more yet to come.
A balanced day between figs and builds. No exclusive characters or sweaters, so I’m not sure who comes in ahead. What does everyone else think?
Theo: I like these printed portraits in the Harry Potter calendar! What on earth is that red thing from Spider-Man, though?
Daniel: If that HP fireplace is Abeforth’s place then bravo! The printed portrait of Arianna is awesome!
Kyle: A very odd day. I think the HP fireplace wins, but only because it’s the most identifiable non-minifig build. And, yes, for those playing the home game, I generally don’t like minifigs. I welcome your malice-filled comments below!
Bre: Harry Potter easily takes the win this day.
Harry Potter takes the day thanks to the power of printed tiles! But I’m sure Star Wars army builders will be happy with today’s gift as well.
