2024 LEGO Advent Calendars, Day 22 [Feature]

Only three days left of our annual calendar spree. I’m going to miss these posts and sharing the opening experience with the team and with you, our readers. Before we begin, perhaps a little more trivia? In 2008 LEGO released the first Castle advent calendar and there was much rejoicing… in some parts of the world. The US and Canada weren’t officially supported for this set, which created quite an uproar with our readers! A Kingdoms calendar appeared two years later, marking the last time LEGO Castle appeared in advent form. While we don’t have Castle doors to open this year, we do have Friends, Disney, City, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Spider-Man!

As ever, our intrepid TBB team is on hand with witty comments, insightful observations, and bad jokes for each day’s builds. And of course, you can add your own thoughts in the comments section each day! So without further ado, let’s crack open the build for day 22…

Friends finally puts up the Christmas tree. Disney expands on yesterday’s castle start with a central archway.

City choo-choo-chooses to gift us with a steam locomotive. Meanwhile, Hogwarts starts setting the biggest and fanciest table yet. I wonder what will end up on that grey stud?

The Razor Crest is back in action courtesy of the Star Wars calendar. While from Spider-Man, we get a spider-gift and… Mysterio’s severed head? Or maybe it’s a snow globe.

Here are all three of this year’s trains. Friends, City, and Harry Potter.

Star Wars microbuilds have been up and down this year, but I’m liking this Razor Crest. Hard to judge the Harry Potter and Disney builds on their own. I’m curious what the rest of you think?

Theo: Oh. I’m not sure that multi-day build is going where I thought it was. The Razor Crest is today’s winner by a country parsec.

Daniel: Razor Crest build is the best from Star Wars this year, and much more accurate than the previous version (before it got blown up, smarty-pants). I like the parts used for the tree but wish it came in dark green.

Kyle: Well, if it isn’t yet another great Christmas train and another disappointing Christmas tree. Never change, LEGO Advent Calendars. Never change.

Bre: Love the train! The Razor Crest isn’t bad either. And it’s always nice to have a useful printed tile such as the clock.

Mando pulls off a decisive win. This is the way.

“NORMAN! I BIT OFF QUENTIN’S HEAD! A HOLIDAY JEST! LET US MAKE A SNOWMAN, THEN I CAN BITE OFF HIS HEAD AGAIN!”

What delights will tomorrow bring? Come back tomorrow for six more advent gifts. And be sure to share your thoughts on today’s offerings in the comments!
