LEGO Community Headlines and Highlights for March 2025

March heralds the arrival of spring (in the northern hemisphere), and like the arrival of spring flowers there was no shortage of great LEGO content from around the globe!

Here at BrickNerd, we launched the Imperial March contest (we hope you got your entry in!), learned about the best parts for landscaping, and took an in-depth look at Jan Beyer’s time with The LEGO Group. We provided instructions for building your own Leprechaun for St Patrick’s Day, a mini-microscope, and a train wagon! We looked at some food MOCs realistic enough to make your mouth water, automated an amusement park, and discovered that size doesn’t matter when it comes to your LEGO collection. We even took a hard look at whether The LEGO Group has become a lifestyle brand and celebrated some of the women who are building up the LEGO fan community. In fact, we’ve published so many interesting articles in March that we’ve included an interactive calendar of them at the bottom of this post so you can make sure you didn’t miss a thing.

But there are many more fascinating stories to be told from within the LEGO community, so here are some of the best LEGO articles and videos that caught our contributors’ attention throughout the month of March. We applaud the effort that went into each of these features, so click on the headlines or photos to head to each story or video. They are well worth your time!

ABrickDreamer: This Week in Bricks – LEGO And Star Wars

You may have noticed that this YouTuber has become a staple on our monthly list. Subscribe to the channel so you won’t miss any of the high-quality weekly content! This week he showcased a few Star Wars MOCs recently posted for some contest! 😉

Ben Cossy: The Interesting History Of The Cutest LEGO Set Ever

Whether you also believe this is the cutest LEGO set or not doesn’t matter. I’m always interested in learning about the history of less common sets like Bionicle over the years, and perhaps you will be too.

Benny Productions: How I Upgraded This LEGO Star Wars Box Design

Wonder what LEGO boxes used to look like? This video shows the detailed process used to reimagine the box art for the UCS Sail Barge. Finding the Adults Welcome black box styling a little dull, a more elaborate, illustrative design is prepared.

Beyond the Brick: Huge LEGO Star Wars Teal Squadron Built By 11 People!

Joshua Hanlon takes an in-depth look at the impressive collaborative build displayed at Bricktastic. While impressive in scale, I was even more impressed by how cohesive the overall display looked, considering it was designed by multiple builders.

Blocks Magazine: Essential Tips For Using LEGO Pick A Brick Online

If you have ever been bewildered trying to find a specific part you want to purchase from LEGO’s Pick a Brick service online, this article will offer some helpful insights and tips. Between the large quantity of parts and the sometimes puzzling names used by LEGO, I know I can use all the help I can get.

Brick Architect: Interview at LEGOLAND California With Master Model Builder PJ Catalan

This interview is interesting because it gets beyond the usual PR department facts and tidbits. There is a big focus on Miniland and the model shop, as well as some general park content.

Bricking Up Brad: What Is The Best LEGO Castle?

In the spirit of March Madness (US college basketball tournament), Brad is joined by several other notable YouTubers to debate which is the best LEGO castle set. Starting out with a field of 36 candidates, the panel chooses the winner of each pairing to narrow down to (their) best castle choice.

Brick Fanatics: The Spooky History of LEGO Beauty and the Beast Castle

Go on a historical journey and discover the French castle that inspired the Disney animators working on The Beauty and the Beast movie. See how this real-world inspiration influenced the movie and this modern LEGO set.

Brick Sculpt: The Ultimate LEGO Pine Tree 2.0

Here is an excellent tutorial on constructing realistic-looking pine trees using the fairly recent fern element. Methods used to vary the tree heights is just as important as the overall appearance to achieve a realistic landscaping effect.

Brickset: Discover the ‘Secret’ LEGO Archive on LEGO.com

While this series of videos is hosted on the official LEGO website, a huge thanks to Brickset for bringing this to my/our attention. Visiting “The Vault” in the LEGO Idea House was certainly a highlight of my LEGO experiences, but getting a glimpse of this much larger archive blows my mind.

Cheesey Studios: The End Of LEGO Exo-Force

Cheesey Studios makes a second appearance on our list this month, although the first appearance was under another source headline (I’ll wait while you go back to figure it out). The video focuses on the final wave of Exo-Force sets. While the theme didn’t resonate with me, it is always interesting to hear the perspective of big fans who likely were in the right target audience age group at the time.

DuckBricks: All 49 Easter Eggs And References In Ninjago City Workshops

Chris brings his usual enthusiasm to explore the latest Ninjago modular. Easter eggs and subtle references are always fun to learn about, and Ninjago City Workshops has perhaps set a new record for the most ever!

jtsandman45: Building All 36 Minikits From LEGO Star Wars – The Complete Saga

This video is a combination of LEGO Star Wars mini kit history review, building some of the retail sets, and creating MOCs for many others. Some interesting subjects were chosen that haven’t received the mini treatment by LEGO. And of course, there is a big finale to this collector’s journey!

Nate From The Internet: Printing A Life-Sized LEGO Castle

This first installment video chronicles the journey to 3D print and build a 20:1 scale version of an iconic LEGO gray castle. Equipped with a small army of ten 3D printers, he shows some of the considerations and challenges encountered with this monumental project. (You might see a BrickNerd logo on one of the studs in the future!)

New Elementary: LEGO Building at Angles – Escaping the Grid

This is a great article that helps demystify methods of building at angles other than 90 degrees. Yes, there is geometry involved, but it is presented in a simple, clear manner. Worth the read!

Popular Science: The World’s Smallest Handmade Sculpture is a Blood Cell-Sized “LEGO” Brick

Here at BrickNerd we generally don’t pay attention to the many clone brands of bricks. But with a Guinness World Record and a non-threatening total production of three bricks, this one deserves a highlight. I can’t imagine the patience required to craft a single stud (non-LEGO) brick that measures just 0.02517mm by 0.02184mm. For comparison, the height of the raised LEGO logo on top of studs is .14mm!

Rebrickable: Designer Spotlight – sebbl

This designer spotlight delves into the subject of creating alternate models from retail sets. Limiting your MOC building to a specific palette of parts is quite an interesting challenge and sebbi offers some good advice to potential builders.

R.R. Slugger: LEGO Space In 2025

Here at BrickNerd we show no partiality. Since we already highlighted some Castle content, now we are giving equal time to the Space contingent! This video follows up on the 2024 space-themed sets, weaving in historical space comparisons and offering some wishful thinking about what might lie in store for the future.

Scott The Woz: LEGO Games

I have a confession to make. I never heard of Scott the Woz before someone posted this to our BrickNerd Discord server. Yes, I’m old and out of touch, but his 1.9 million followers know who he is. Scott takes the viewer on a journey, looking at the big variety of LEGO games released over the years. Caution: The Surgeon General has determined that video games may be addictive.

Solid Bricks Studio: The Best LEGO Pieces For MOCs / Speciality

This series of videos shows a number of useful pieces for building MOCs. Whether it is making an unusual connection, adding texture and details, or building SNOT or off axis, you may find some useful tips here.

StoneWars: Height Chart For Children

This is a really creative idea for a LEGO children’s height chart! The final product is awesome, but the article also shares some insights into the development process. And now you won’t lose the historical measurements if you move to a new house. Almost makes me want to have more children (perhaps grandchildren instead).

The Brothers Brick: Building Trees With Minifig Antlers

A fun article highlighting how a simple new LEGO element can be used for a wonderful application that the designers never anticipated. Once again, creativity is the only limit when building with LEGO.

Tips & Bricks: Modern LEGO Animals Part I

LEGO animals have certainly proliferated in both quantity and popularity in recent years. This post looks at some of the notable developments and speculates about some potential future additions/improvements. We look forward to also reading the future installments.
