Bricks & Fables is a new online community focused on the intersection of LEGO and D&D, started by some familiar faces from our Minifig Monday features. To celebrate the GOAT of the latest Collectible Minifig wave, who isn’t a goat at all, but a frog, the group rallied a party of adventurers to make amphibious adventurers using the new frog costume headpiece. In the D&D universe of Forgotten Realms, they’re called Bullwugs, and they’re so cute we would kiss them, if that wouldn’t risk turning them into boring human princes.
amorphousbricks introduces Ribberos, the Bullywug wizard. The toothy head under the transforms the cute costume into something sinister. Using carrot tops for toes is a brilliant way to add details to the slimy character, and we love the mix of green decorative elements.
sword.bricks tells us that from a single, sun-warmed frog spawn pond on the edge of a moss-choked ruin were born three siblings: Mire the Croakwise, amphibimancer extraordinaire, Reed the Quicktongue, whose arrows make willows weep, and Bog the PadSword, a fearless warrior who is in the process of growing back a lost limb.
argoniinbricks bridges the Multiverse to bring this pond-perfect Mighty Thor frog, aka Throg, who may not technically be a bullywug, but considering he holds the hammer of a god, who are we to argue?
bardicbricks, fueled by Lipton tea and the adoration of Sabrina Carpenter, brings us Jiminiah Hemitson – Frogfolk Fighter of the Feywild. When he’s not smashing foes with his toad-hammer, Jiminiah breaks out the banjo to ponder why there are so many builds about rainbows.
buildsandguilds assembles a whole adventuring family of bullywugs. We’ll let the builder describe them:
Generally, bullywugs are considered rather dim and unevolved. This family seems to be rather enlightened, though, don’t you think? From left to right, we have Scrog, the youngest daughter (and a prodigy at the horn), Millymop, the eldest son (and a bubble savant), Belgya, the mother (and a gifted mage), and Fronk, the father (he doesn’t really have any passions, but he’ll protect his family until his last croak).
cgarr_bricks offers a pair of bullywugs: Ribert the fighter and Kroak the alchemist. We’re big fans of Ribert’s green sword and shield, as well as the lovely spot of pond that makes these heroes feel right at home.
bricksnbeasts goes big with Billy the Frog Knight. The CMF headpiece is the seed for a fully custom armored body. Minifig helmets make for epic shoulder armor. As a bonus, Billy is joined by a Minecraft frog squire.
While that concludes the official Bricks and Fables collab, a bonus bullywug joins the party courtesy of asortaokaybuilder. This fellow is a tribute to Sol Buffo from the Not Another D&D Podcast.
“Lilypad laddie who’s never met his daddy and it makes him kinda saddy so he works out a lot to get gains that are natty, it’s Sol Bufo!!”
Hopefully, these bullywug builds brought a smile to your face and might inspire you to make your own fantasy frog from LEGO.
