In the 70s, back when NASA didn’t rely on billionaires for their space flights and Boeing airplanes didn’t lose parts mid-flight, the two teamed up to give the space shuttle piggyback rides from the landing site back to the launch site. This resulted in the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft or SCA; a modified 747 (the first a 747-100, the second a 747-100SR) capable of carrying a Space Shuttle on its back.
