Our favorite holiday tradition is opening all six LEGO Advent Calendars, one day at a time, with you, our readers! Along with spoiler pics of the daily gifts, we include commentary and alternate builds to celebrate the season and creativity.
We have an all-star cast of custom minifig creators leading our Advent adventure this year. Fool’s Figures is wizarding his way through Harry Potter and Frozen calendars. ExpansionBricks is launching Star Wars and Friends. And beyondb0nes is digging into Minecraft and City. Now let’s open some doors and see what gifts are in store for today!
Fools: This bottle of Polyjuice Potion is certainly an appreciated inclusion for it’s printed 2×2 cylinder piece!
Expansion: That polyjuice potion looks great! With a does that big you can go undercover for weeks, right?
Bones: Another print on a fairly large piece, not as big as the one from set 76391, but I’m sure that with the different builds from the calendar we should be able to create something similar on a smaller scale.
Jake: It’s perfectly scaled for weird Harry and Ron in the upcoming Ford Anglia set.
Fools: We begin to expand our village with this snowcapped windmill!
Expansion: After the Friends snack, all I can see here is a chocolate windmill…
Fools: Today’s alt build is a Hogwarts badge that makes for a memorable award for a young magician.
Bones: A day at the LEGO HQ: “Guys, we made a mistake! We put the exact same skateboard as last year, we didn’t even change the color, it’s still lime!” “Don’t panic my friend. And what about last year’s helmet? Dark turquoise? Perfect, let’s go with magenta this year!”
Fools: Would’ve been nice to get a little ramp build or something.
Bones: A Drowned with a Trident, with a bit of scenery to hint at its aquatic nature. For the second time, if you count the Creeper as a minifigure, no exclusive print for a festive end-of-year vibe… maybe next year?
Fools: I always liked these trident pieces, so cool to get that even though the figure and build are pretty common and lacking.
Jake: Talk about gleaming the cube! Drowned only live to get radical.
Bones: Every army needs supplies, and nothing boosts the troops like a nice, fresh fish!
Jake: Love the skateboard bench!
Expansion: If that fish Minecraft fish is anything like its fisherman, it’s going to taste… rotten!
Bones: Is he fishing to feed his own troops, or to replace the enemy’s rations, who knows?
Expansion: BD-72. For those who didn’t pick up the BD-1 buildable character or Mandalorian Naboo star fighter, this is a great figure to get. Adorable and desirable (although 1 part for a window is a bit stingy) 5/5
Fools: My favorite Star Wars droid design by a long shot, these guys are so cute.
Bones: Now that I think about it, is Jedi: Fallen Order considered canon? I mean, yes, it’s not the same, but still… Let’s ask the important questions!
Expansion: Hot chocolate and cookies. Nice to see the product of the ingredients we got in day 11. Also 2 dual moulded parts and 2 prints is a win in my book! 4/5
Bones: Very nice idea to create a little story between yesterday and today. Tomorrow I want to see a mini doll who really enjoyed that snack!
Fools: They even have whipped cream!
Expansion: The Christmas cookie launcher. A confectionary conflict is upon us. I hope you have a sweet tooth.
Jake: Where’s B2M3TL when you need him?
