Iron Forge 2026 Builder Spotlight: Grant Davis

The “final eight” of the Iron Forge tournament has been full of exciting up-and-coming LEGO builders, but the last spotlighted builder needs no introduction. Grant Davis may be an Iron Forge novice, but he’s a two-time Iron Builder champion, earning the title in 2017 and defending it in 2020. Grant also co-designed the LEGO Ideas Pop-up Book and is one of the most popular LEGO video creators around with a focus on kinetic builds. Talk about pedigree! So this is a builder that’s really left their mark on the competition – and I’m not just talking about this footprint.

We’ve seen a lot of body parts re-created using the engine intake that forms the third round’s seed part. But of all of them, the nose on this Moai might be my favourite use!

I don’t know how seed parts are chosen for these contests, but I bet one of the criteria is ‘it must have some weird geometry’. Not that that’s enough to put the entrants off – the sides of the intake make great keystones in this arch!

As for the eggshells that were the second round’s seed part, they find many purposes in this birthday picnic scene. It reminds me of my birthday party last month – it was similarly busy. (Squirrels give terrible gifts, incidentally.)

It took me a second to locate the seed parts here! In this case, it’s the minifig seat. Can you spot them?

No such problems in this hallway – I count 34 engine intake parts in various colours! They’re only outnumbered by the cheese slopes in the fabulous mountain mosaic.

Often, creators will let their builds do the talking, but it’s always fun to put some backstory behind them too. Here, Grant gets Jimmy Grimmel to give grand galactic gigastars Grupp and Grokk (not that one) a grilling.

Grant is a certified titan of building prowess, not unlike this impressive stony character who towers over a outmatched microscale castle. The seed part engine to works great as the titan’s face, chiseled face, but the standout NPU here is those upturned mailbox doors where the hinge gaps become parapets.

Grant doesn’t lean in to the pun game as much as some of his competitors. Which is a shame if you ask us! We love a good pun at TBB, and we love the bad ones even more. We won’t take any digs at him for it though – we still treasure builds like this classic X-marks-the-spot map.

And what might you dig up at said spot? Well, gold, naturally. Let’s hope Grant isn’t tempting fate with this winners’ trophy!

That concludes our Builder Roundups of this year’s competition. You can catch up with all of our Iron Forge 2026 coverage here.
