You may think of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as something of a joke. And to be fair, that is how the concept came about. But the original Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird comics are surprisingly dark compared to the TV series that many know and love. For proof, check out artist_davs‘ LEGO take on their first run of Mirage comics. It’s so broody! It looks more like something out of Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. And that’s down to its builder’s flair for composition: the forced perspective city in dark-bluish-grayscale, with the light focussing on our hero – Leonardo – as the only dash of colour. Alongside the pizza flyer, naturally. Hey, it may be a broody scene, but we all know how much these turtles love their pizza!
